In the experiment, water flows from the discharge channel to the reservoir. The model flow rate is 5.6 L/s, and the average velocity in the tunnel is 0.5 m/s. The numerical simulation conditions are set the same as those of the experimental conditions. 3.1. Time-averaged characteristics of the discharge channel 3.1.1.
When the water flow from the conveyance tunnel diffuses to the reservoir through the discharge channel, the instantaneous velocity at the trash rack section varies greatly, and the fluctuation value exceeds twice the time-averaged value. As previously reported, only the time-averaged velocity parameter cannot fully represent instant flow effects.
The velocity of the trash rack section and the internal cross sections is measured by laser doppler velocimetry. The instantaneous velocity field inside the discharge channel is numerically simulated by the improved delayed detached eddy simulation. The fluctuating velocity characteristics at the trash rack section are demonstrated detailed.
