Purification of uninterruptible power supply

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems may be considered as a particular case of APU systems, where electric power should be supplied to critical loads in a continuous mode, when the normal supply is interrupted. Hydrogen-based UPS, like the one presented here, is emerging as a clean alternative to the use of conventional systems.

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) based on hydrogen technologies has been designed, manufactured and tested. The system consists of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell running on hydrogen and oxygen, a gas storage section and a water electrolyser for hydrogen and oxygen production.

In UPS Systems voltage and current harmonics are vital source of power loss. The power from 20% to 40% is lost because of converter and inverter losses in UPS Systems which has a very notable effect and also creates a gap of supply and demand . Increasing gap causes excessive load shedding and power failure as well as electricity crisis.

There are various advantages to hybrid rotary uninterruptible power supply systems, including electrical isolation, streamlined maintenance, and reduced overall maintenance. They also have higher reliability, a longer lifespan (20–30 years), and lower running expenses.

When utility mains are not available, electricity can be supplied from a source such as a standard connected equipment UPS, which provides power supply. UPS is mostly used for critical loads and is kept between commercial utility mains. In the event of a power outage or other anomaly, UPS instantly switches to its own power from the grid.
