The LC filter is connected to the inverter output to reduce the THD value. Passive filter circuits consisting capacitor (C), inductance (L) and in some cases resistance (R) elements which are placed between the source and load.
The single-phase inverter is connected to the unknown load through an LC filter. The load can be linear or nonlinear. In this work, the output voltage of LC filter is considered to be controlled by the inverter. The models of the single-phase inverter and LC filter are presented in the following subsections.
The LC filter is an essential component in inverters. It helps that the output voltage remains the desired fundamental element and eliminates the converter's high-order harmonic feature. This research proposes a method to estimate the current through the capacitor of an LC filter from which it can be accurately determined to control. 1.
Fig. 8 shows the experimental three-level PWM inverter output voltage waveforms on the three phase voltages, vR,vS, and vT. Fig. 9 shows the experimental grid waveforms on the rated inverter output currents, iR, iS, and iT . As presented, the proposed inverter system with LC filter operates well with the current controller.
The two control goals for the single-phase inverter with output LC filter are: A good load voltage reference tracking. A significant switching frequency decreasing. These goals can be expressed in the form of a quality function to be minimized.
LC filter is connected between the inverter and the nonlinear load to filter the harmonic components produced by the DC/DC boost converter, DC/AC inverter and non-linear load. Matlab/Simulink program was used in Simulation and analysis of off-grid solar system. Solar inverter output current THD was measured as 91.55%.
