Both static and vehicle-mounted dynamic field test results demonstrate that the 5G base station signal can markedly enhance the convergence speed and positioning accuracy of PPP. The optimal localization performance among the different 5G observation combinations is achieved by the tightly coupled integration of RTT/AOD and PPP.
The experimental results revealed that the introduction of 5G base stations effectively increased the positioning accuracy and reliability under different occlusion conditions. Additionally, increasing the number of base stations and optimizing the geometric configuration further improved the accuracy and reliability of fusion localization.
Furthermore, as compared to other indoor positioning technologies, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ultra-wideband (UWB), and pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR),,, 5G-based indoor positioning technology has more widely dispersed base stations and a unified standard; moreover, it does not require additional positioning equipment or terminals.
The introduction of 5G base stations effectively increases the positioning accuracy and reliability under various occlusion conditions. Particularly, when the number of base stations increases, the accuracy and reliability of the integrated positioning system also increase.
The respective influences of ranging accuracy and propagation distance mandate that 5G millimeter waves have a much lower ranging error than that of the BDS pseudo-range. Thus, the introduction of 5G base stations helps increase the accuracy and speed of the positioning system.
First, the advantages of applying 5G millimeter waves in a positioning system were explored, and the TOA positioning algorithm was investigated and simulated, while taking into account the error between the base station and receiver clocks.
